Stung Treng to Continue City Lockdown

Stung Treng: As the whole city in Stung Treng province continues to find Delta variant of Covid-19 cases, the provincial administration has announced to extend another seven days of lockdown from Tuesday, 24 August. This was following the expiration of the seven-day lockdown implemented by Stung Treng’s Provincial Governor Mom Saroeun in the whole city last week, aiming to stop the spread of Covid-19, especially the Delta variant.

Provincial health authorities continue to discover the more transmissible variant in Stung Treng city. As of Tuesday, Stung Treng province has reported 28 cases of this Delta variant, two of them have been cured. According to the provincial administration, the Covid-19 patients are mostly vendors who continue to sell despite the lockdown implemented.

As a result, Stung Treng Provincial Gendarmerie Force headed by Provincial Commander General Ieng Vandy, in collaboration with the Director of the Department of Health Ung So Viet has conducted a crackdown on mobile vendors as well as those selling at home for not complying with the guidelines set by the administration to prevent the spread of the virus.
